Hey, so to catch you up, since I really didn't write last week, not much happened that week. We just had meetings with ward leadership and passed by to visit with people that had asked us to stop by. Then for Pday, we went to Toledo, which was fun. We took some cool pictures but didn't have much time to write. Sorry! That night we visited a less active family where the dad called out his son. It was funny, but good.
Tuesday, we visited Jorgé and did some contacting. We also visited Alejandro, our friend from South America, with his friend, who is a member and a great guy.
Wednesday was exchanges with Elder Wade where we did some pass bys
and contacting in the morning which was fun. We also had a lesson with Michel and then went to our English classes.
Thursday morning we helped put up a wall in someone's house for service. Its weird how much different they do things here. We had a lesson with a 'dry member.' He just has problems with smoking and probably knows
more than I do about the church. His family members are great - his son is
preparing to go on a mission. After that we did more service (helping someone move).
Friday we had a triple zone meeting and it was all about contacting. President has been really hitting on that topic lately. After that, we met with Rosa, who we teach in English, and because it didn't feel right, I changed the lesson topic. Elder Alacama flipped because it was hard for him, lol! After, I told him that he now knows how I feel when he does the same thing! It doesn't happen often, thankfully, but it was funny.
We went contacting late that night and found a couple in their late 40s. It turns out her kids are active and her son served a mission in El Salvador. Crazy! Normally I like to contact just one person, not couples or families, but that day, President said that this gospel is for families, so that's who I was contacting. I saw the blessings of doing that.
Saturday we planned and worked on the area book. Then we had a ward activity and it was great!!
Sunday we visited Jorgé. We also contacted and visited with Patricia, who is kind of a snake, but not too bad, lol! She cooks really good, though, like really good, so yeah... She was inactive for like 8 years and wants to come back, so that is awesome of her.
We didn't have pday on Monday. It was changed to Wednesday since we get to go to the temple that day. So, we helped someone move that lives in a village about an hour away from Arganda Del Rey. It takes about an hour to get to Arganda, so that was fun! We barely made it to our next appointment! Good thing we brought our clothes to change. But, the lady wasn't there, so we went and visited our new investigator, Francisco, who turns out to be crazy and pardoned, so he will be fun... Then we saw Antonio, who we thought was called Domingo. It ends up that is his second name. He normally goes by Antonio, haha! That was a weird conversation.
Tuesday we had a lesson with Valantina, who had a baptismal date before I got here, but has only met with us once. Her husband is an inactive member that doesn't want anything to do with the church. He is in France right now and so she is much more friendly. It will be interesting to see what happens with her. We had district meeting where I learned a lot about commitments. Then we had a lesson planned with Jorge and Adrian but Jorgé hadn't finished his homework, so instead we helped him with that so he could go to a family home evening. The family home evening was
about Christ and the last week of his life and we bore our testimonies about
Him. It was good for Jorgé and Adrian. We also played some Lobos.
Today, after going to the temple, we went to a park and rode bikes. It was fun to be on a bike.
Well, that's my last two and a half weeks. Have a great rest of this week!
Love ya,
Elder Craig Mackay
