Man! So I got the email that Elder Wade is going home! So man, that's crazy - he was my second district leader, so yeah, crazy stuff.
So this week was fun. Monday we went bowling with Sandra and Katharine and had a party It was fun, but I didn't play so well, haha. Then we got back late for English classes, so yeah, we have to be smarter with our time if we go bowling.
Tuesday we had a conference with Elder Gay of the 70. It was really good. They talked a lot about serving our companions and not giving up, even if it is hard. Elder Gay said a couple of things that I really liked. So first off, Elder Gay is a very soft spoken man, but the way he talks is just so powerful. The first thing he said is that as missionaries we often go and knock doors and talk to people in the street as a “go to thing” if we don't have a lesson. But he said, in his very calm way of speaking, that it's very stupid and not effective. Then he asked the zone leaders how many missionaries are in their zones and they said our zone has 23. He said, Nope - every member a missionary and you are not using them, or not as much as we should be. So he told us to go and pray on ways we can work with members better, starting with the leaders. Later, Elder Gay talked about one of the ways to show humility to the Lord and show him we love him is not just being obedient, but doing it in His way, so I really liked that. He said a lot but those were the things that stuck out to me.
We met with Yurleidy later that day and she told us she was going to Colombia to visit her father who is sick. So, hope he is doing ok and that she gets back soon. Then Wednesday we had our last district meeting of the transfer and then later, a fun noche de hogar.
Thursday we finally met with Sandra and Sunsoles and it was good, until the end when Sunsoles talked about killing and how if someone has a weapon, they plan on killing, and that's not ok... Well, my comp loves hunting and talked about that and then defending yourself with a weapon and, well, Sunsoles total disagrees. She thinks that we shouldn't defend ourselves. In the end, she was upset that missionaries would say things like this. She has a very European opinion on weapons, so yeah, but I think she got over it... We were going to try to bring Sandra and Sunsoles to stake conference, but Sunsoles got bit by a lot of mosquitoes and didn't feel like going and Sandra stayed to take care of her. Saturday we met with Sandra after a ping pong tournament with some of the young adults. We talked about the word of wisdom and it was nice having a bunch of converts to the church talking about dropping coffee and other stuff. These are things that Elder Strong and I have never had a problem with, so that was good.
Saturday night Luis had his baptismal interview and he passed, so that was good. He will be baptized this Saturday, the 17th. We just need to talk about the baptism and what will happen. Then he will be all set.
Well, that was my week!
