Hey, everyone,
So this week has been full of fun visits, working with Jorgé to get him ready. It has been a lot of work, but clearly worth it.
The other day Elder Alacama wanted to go running and, thinking it would be good cus I'm feeling fat, I went. And he, thinking that his fat comp was going running, thought it would be a good idea to use weights on his ankles. Well, he hurt his back somehow, probably cus I was pushing him too much.
So, Elder Alacama was worried about baptizing Jorgé because of his hurt back. So, he practiced with him one night over a couch and couldn't do it, but tried again and barely managed to do it. I don't know what Jorgé was thinking when he asked the little Bolivian boy who is smaller than him to baptize him and the greenie American to give him the gift of the Holy Ghost, but he wanted it like this, so we did it. During the baptismal service, Elder Alacama had to push him under because the water was low and hurt his back even more. But, it was all good... and Elder Alacama is fine, if you were wondering.
Also, I did the confirmation. It was hard but good and simple. It was fast Sunday, so I heard a lot of people sharing how my blessing of Jorge was VERY simple, but good, so that helped me feel better about it. I felt bad because it wasn't anything big and I should have talked in "tu" (familiar form of you in Spanish), but kept forgetting and talked in "usted" (more formal form of you in Spanish). As missionaries, we should speak in "usted" except when we are giving blessings, so that was a bummer, but it was all good. I got up and shared my testimony because I'm probably leaving this area this transfer. I could have a 4th transfer here, but it's unlikely.
So yesterday we got had a missed call from one of the AP's - Elder Guerra (guerra means war so clearly it's " Elder War" in our phone). So, we called him back to see what's up and they want a report of how we are working with less actives. We were like, ok, and do you want us to email that to you, or give it to you in person, and by when. So Elder Guerra says, Well, give it to us during our intercambios (exchanges) next Tuesday and you'll be coming to our area. So, we were like, what's going on! Elder Alacama only has one more month out than me and neither of us has been a leader of any kind or a trainer. So, we were flipping out but we have appointments with our progressing people and didn't want to cancel on them so we said that's a bad day - can we do it another day? They asked when we have time and it ends up we are doing it next Tuesday so we can plan for it. It was crazy and we have no idea why the AP's want to do this with us, but we will see - fun stuff!
So, Karen, our investigator, is causing a lot of problems. The brother of the member that invited Karen to church is trying to get with her, and we are getting in his way because we are teaching her and friendshiping her during his flirting time. He is not happy (he is an RM and doing a really bad job of flirting with her). Another RM is killing it with her. So the first RM is not happy and wants the sisters from Barrio 6 to teach Karen because she lives in Vicalvor which can be claimed by both Barrio 6 and Barrio 8, my area. It's funny having 2 RM's trying to get with her and not caring about the missionary work, lol! Great stuff!
Hope you all had a great week!
Love ya,
Elder Craig MacKay
